John 19:25-27

25 Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, ‘Woman, here is your son,’ 27 and to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’ From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

Give Thanks … The context of today’s reading is the crucifixion of Jesus. Thank Him for being the ultimate sacrifice that enables you to be in relationship with our Heavenly Father. Give thanks for the privilege of serving a God who is prepared to take on himself the punishment for all our sin.

Consider …. the depth of Jesus love for human beings that in a moment of intense agony and humiliation He sees his mother and thinks not of Himself but of her. Remember that Jesus loves you with that same love.

Consider ….. the fact that sometimes you are in the position of Jesus mother, needing help and comfort, and sometimes you are in the position of the apostle John, being called on by God to give comfort. In what place do you find yourself today? Remember that God is watching, He knows and He cares.

Decide …. if you are in need of comfort to ask God to provide someone to be His hands and feet in your life today. If you are able to provide strength and comfort ask God to guide you toward someone that needs to know today that He is watching and He does care.
