This week's devotions all come from stories about Jesus where he displayed acceptance and empathy toward sinners. Each devotion is focused on meditation on the passage rather than analysis:

• Begin with a prayer of thanksgiving to God for his acceptance of you.
• Read through the passage quietly at least twice. Try to imaging yourself in the situation. Ask yourself who you most identify with in each story.
• What acceptance and empathy do you see God extending to you through this story?
• What acceptance and empathy do you sense God calling you to extend to others from this story?
• Pray and ask God to show you a specific person or group that he wants you to show acceptance and empathy towards today.

DAY FIVE

- Father forgive them.

Luke 23:33-35 (NIVUK):
33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals – one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’ And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. 35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, ‘He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.’
