Fill Your Mind With Positive Things

Philippians 4:8-9: Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Filling our minds with good, pure thoughts is not only healthy for our relationship with God, but also our relationships with other people and for our own bodies and minds.

Ask God to show you a few things that you allow into your mind that are unhealthy. It may include things you watch, read or listen to; people who spend time with who gossip or are negative in their speech; or thoughts you entertain that fill your mind with doubt, anger, cynicism or some other form of negativity. Then write those things down (about 3-4 things) and ask God to show you what he wants you to do about each one to clean up your mind. Then commit to how you are going to follow Him in this way. Write your commitment down. It could be something like …

“I’m going to google and make a list of positive things about my country and stick it up on my fridge. Every time I read or hear something that makes me feel negative I’m going to look at that list and be express gratitude to God for what he’s given me”

… or anything that is relevant to the things you wrote down.
